A message from our Chairman:

Due to rising concerns relating to the Coronavirus pandemic, including the government recommending restrictions on the public attending theatres, it is with great regret that we have taken the necessary decision to postpone our April production of "The Importance of Being Earnest" and our June Friends' Evening until further notice. We hope to present these later in the year.

The health and safety of our members, crew and audience is our main concern during these unprecedented times and we shall follow government advice and hope to resume our usual activities as soon as possible.

We understand your disappointment but hope you appreciate why these difficult decisions have been implemented. If you have already bought tickets online through Ticketsource, a refund will be automatically generated. If you booked over the phone, please contact our box office on 07584 100770 and a refund will be arranged.

Please keep monitoring social media and our website for further news and updates.

Our Next Production...

Directed by John Sivewright.

Dates to be confirmed.

Two young gents have taken to bending the truth in order to put some excitement into their lives. Jack Worthing has invented a brother, Earnest, whom he uses as an excuse to leave his dull life behind to visit Gwendolen in the town. Algernon Moncrieff decides to take the name Earnest when visiting Jack's young and beautiful ward, Cecily, in the country. Things start to go awry when they end up together in the country and their deceptions are discovered.

Meet the Director

John Sivewright

John has been a member of ASDS since he was just 15, first appearing as John Darling in 'Peter Pan'.  Since then he has gone on to play many varied roles, from a Kangeroo to a gangster, and from an OAP to a 10-year-old boy!  He has also directed for the Society, notably our 2018 pantomime 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'. John has always enjoyed being a member of ASDS due to the friendly, welcoming atmosphere and the high standards the Society sets for itself.
